FLAG ETIQUETTE - RETIREMENT

We are excited to announce that our Post will soon be hosting a yearly Flag Retirement Ceremony at VFW Post 4372. This ceremony will be a respectful and solemn occasion to properly retire worn or tattered American flags in accordance with proper Flag Etiquette. Our team will ensure that each flag is retired with the respect and dignity it deserves during our annual ceremony.

If you have a flag that is no longer suitable for display, we encourage you to drop it off in our VFW Post 4372 Flag Drop Box, located in the hallway of our Post. 208 E VFW Ln, Odessa Tx

The process for Flag Retirement is as follows:

  1. Flags will be collected and stored securely in the Flag Drop Box.
  2. During the ceremony, each flag will be folded, and a brief statement honoring the flag and its significance will be made.
  3. The flags will then be properly and respectfully retired by being ceremonially burned, in accordance with the United States Flag Code.

We invite all VFW members and our Odessa, Texas community to join us in showing respect for the American flag and the values it represents. Stay tuned for the date and details of the ceremony!
